  • Please tell me how you joined Tokyo Belt.

After graduating, I worked as a restaurant manager for two or three years. After that, I worked at an advertising agency for about two years. Both jobs were extremely hard.I decided on Tokyo Belt because I wanted a company where I could settle down and work for a long time.It is closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, has a long history, and has a fairly large market for selling industrial parts. The Atsugi branch I was recruiting for was close to my home.Okay, I applied because I thought I would be able to work here in a relaxed manner.

  • Was there a gap after joining the company?

When I joined the company, there was little overtime, and I felt that the compensation was in line with my research before joining.
I have three children, and I am able to devote a lot of time to raising children and doing housework both before and after work.

  • Please tell us about Tokyo Belt's business operations.

It's an environment where you can not only sell products from left to right, but also creatively explore your own way of doing business.Rather than handling only limited products according to the manual, we are also encouraged to develop suppliers and handle new products, so it is an exciting and fun job to solve problems while meeting all customer needs. I feel that.
The challenges faced by our customers are diverse. In some cases, the customer himself/herself may not be able to clearly understand the issue. To put it in extreme terms, there are cases where we are handed parts that are extremely old and have no clear purpose at first glance, and we receive a request saying, ``I want something similar to this,'' without knowing the final demand. We use careful interviews and on-site surveys to understand the customer's issues, select appropriate partners (supplier manufacturers, partner factories, etc.), understand the customer's wishes, and accurately convey them to them and request their cooperation. ...Sometimes such patience is required.
My future goal is to efficiently share this kind of creative sales know-how with as many employees as possible.I believe that if the methods that each individual has worked hard to arrive at are not individualized, but can be incorporated into a manual while involving those around them, the company's sales will increase and not only the individual but everyone will be happy. The only thing left to do is how to carry it out.

  • Message to everyone thinking about joining the company

The good thing about Tokyo Belt is that it has a high degree of freedom and a sense of speed.Taking the approval process for new suppliers as an example, some companies seem to have a complicated and time-consuming approval process, but Tokyo Belt's process is extremely fast. This is because I am able to share with the company and management team the sense of crisis that ``We won't survive the next 30 years just by selling the same routine things, so we have to do something about it.'' I think we don't waste time. .I also feel safe working every day.
In addition, most people at Tokyo Belt change jobs from other industries. Therefore, even if a zero-based person with no experience in the industry joins the company, the whole company shares the idea that we need to provide them with proper training, and if they work diligently and steadily, they will be well-equipped to become a full-fledged person. If you don't have sufficient knowledge before making your debut in sales, you won't be able to understand customer problems, so if necessary, we also set aside a period for you to learn while doing office work. After a year or two, you'll have a good grasp of the industry, and then you'll be able to go out into the world. If you think about it in that span, I think you'll be right.
Tokyo Belt's sales may sound difficult, but don't worry, you'll learn by doing a variety of tasks. As you gain experience, you will also acquire a sense of sales. For example, you will be able to distinguish between projects that will lead to an order, and projects that will lead to the next one even if you don't get an order this time, and your ability to decide which projects to focus on will increase.

  • Please tell me how you joined Tokyo Belt.

My previous job was working at a company that sold used cars.I joined the company as a new graduate and was immediately assigned to Gunma Prefecture. However, the sales-oriented sales style didn't suit me, so I started looking for a new job after about a year and a half.I'm from Kagoshima Prefecture, and I wanted to move to Tokyo, so I was looking for a position that was in Tokyo, and I wanted to continue working hard in sales, and I found a job opening for Tokyo Belt.I learned that the company was taking on new challenges such as factory automation, robotics, and road repair that I couldn't imagine from the company name, and I thought that if I worked hard, I might be able to gain a lot of experience, so I applied.
The deciding factor for joining the company was the good atmosphere in the workplace.During the final selection process, I was taken on a tour of the company by a human resources representative.I felt a good sense of openness from chatting with employees in the warehouse at the head office, and also from the way the president and general managers talked openly during interviews.

  • Please tell us about your daily work.

For a while after I joined the company, a big part of my work was responding to requests for estimates and inquiries from customers. For example, how much does that 10 belts cost? When is the delivery date?In response to such inquiries, if the item is in stock, we check the stock on our internal system or check with the manufacturer or supplier. We receive many requests for estimates like this every day, but currently only about 2% of them lead to orders. The reasons for not receiving an order vary on a case-by-case basis, but I think it is important to find out why you were not able to receive an order and use it as a basis for your next move.
Since I have been assigned this role, I have been working more and more on the outside. In the middle of a conversation with a customer such as ``What happened to the estimate you received the other day?'', you can say, ``We also deal with this kind of thing, what do you think?''.In an unexpected way, this led to an order for T-REX (reverse engineering service for mechanical parts), and I am beginning to experience the real pleasure of sales.Currently, I am in charge of a customer who has been loyal to me for a long time.I look forward to meeting new customers as time goes on.

  • Do you have any problems at work?

Before joining the company, I had heard that they handle a variety of products, but I had the impression that most of them would be belts and hoses. In reality, we handled so many different parts, it was more than I had imagined. We still do not fully understand the product fields, such as hose joints, jacks, rubber, resins and their processed products, and robot parts.Due to my previous job, I was only vaguely familiar with power transmission belts, such as timing belts and V-belts, but there were a wide variety of them. There are times when I get confused, but if I ask my seniors or superiors questions, they are willing to help me out, and when I get stuck, my seniors sometimes lend a helping hand, so I don't feel anxious.
Most recently, when I was at a loss with an inquiry from a customer regarding processed vinyl chloride products, I consulted with a senior colleague, who gave me advice on selecting a processing company and even went along with me.In the end, the project did not result in an order, but perhaps because we were able to provide an accurate proposal, we now receive frequent inquiries and consultations from the customer.

  • Please tell us your future goals.

First of all, I would like to be able to complete a project from beginning to end without relying on my seniors.
Since we handle a wide variety of products, we believe that we can solve as many of our customers' concerns and issues as we like.Right now, there are more situations where I feel lacking in my abilities than I feel motivated, but I believe I can overcome them by gaining knowledge and experience.
My goal is a certain senior. We communicate thoroughly with both customers and suppliers, get into their pockets, and become great friends...It's not something I can easily imitate, but I try to be conscious of how I communicate with people.I will do my best to eventually become a salesperson that will lead the company.
