Logistics employee feedback

Joined 2014
  • Please tell me how you joined Tokyo Belt.

My previous job was in the cleaning business for about 5 years.I had a busy workplace where I couldn't take weekends off during the busy season, so I decided to change jobs before my health became too bad, and I found an opening for a logistics position at Tokyo Belt.My hometown is Hiratsuka, but Atsugi is nearby and I was familiar with the area.I had previously worked in a warehouse and also did some delivery work at a dry cleaners, so I thought I could put my experience to good use, so I applied.

  • How do you spend your days off?

On my days off, I enjoy driving as a hobby.I'm enjoying a relaxing holiday by taking a casual drive to Hakone and taking a hot spring bath.
My previous job was extremely demanding. At Tokyo Belt, you have to work on Saturdays several times a year (note: there are XNUMX Saturdays a year), but you can basically take time off according to the calendar, which was a gap in a positive sense that I felt after joining the company.I was also surprised that I was able to arrive on time (lol)

  • Please tell us about your daily work.

When I arrive at work, I first read the order form and pick the items. Each salesperson has a designated pallet, on which the products on the order form are organized by order number. If the item is in stock, it is picked from the warehouse, and if it is a purchased item, it is picked from the incoming package. This work is the basis of logistics work.
In my case, I usually start making deliveries from 10:30.Not only do we have a chat with the customers we deliver to, but they sometimes show us the actual parts and ask us to give them this. Most customers consult with the sales staff, so it's not often that people ask me for detailed advice, but when they do, I take it back to them and ask the sales staff to get back to me.
Since the coronavirus outbreak, our company's deliveries have mainly relied on transportation companies, and currently I only deliver to about 5 companies a day.
I take a one-hour lunch break on the way, and when I return from delivery at 1:14 p.m., I work on shipping until about 16:20 p.m., when the shipping company comes to pick up the shipment. There are approximately 30 to XNUMX destinations to send to each day, and we are always very busy during this time.
Once the shipping process is complete, pick the items while referring to the order form for shipping the next business day.
In addition, I perform 5S activities such as organizing and cleaning, sorting and sorting stock shelves, and leave the office after 17:30 pm.

  • Please tell us about your usual busy schedule.

There is almost no overtime required.Maybe it's because of the logistics profession, but it's rare, if ever. It's a bit difficult to say, but when landslides occur due to torrential rain, there are times when hoses are shipped in large numbers for disaster prevention purposes. However, I have very little experience of being constantly busy from morning until the end of the work day. It's a workplace where I can put my ingenuity to good use, so perhaps that's why I'm able to carry out my work in a well-planned manner.

  • Have you ever made a mistake or been injured?

I once experienced a serious injury while doing heavy lifting because the blade of a cutter kept hanging out in a cutter holder attached to my waist. This is a mistake I made a while after I joined the company, when I was getting used to it.Therefore, I believe that it is necessary to have a certain degree of tension at work and to take thorough measures to prevent recurrence.

  • What do you enjoy about this job?

I find it rewarding to continually improve the way we work to make it easier for everyone.
The picking system, which involves placing pallets for each salesperson, was originally a system that I improved upon because I felt there were problems with the existing method. When something like this is adopted and I receive words of gratitude from other employees, I feel very happy and fulfilled. In the future, I would like to continue to make improvements like this, rather than just doing routines.
Outside of work, I like the friendly atmosphere in the workplace.Being surrounded by warm-hearted people is probably the biggest reason why I've been able to continue working this far.I think human relationships are a big factor.
